Ho Chi Minh City calls for investment in the construction of underground space in Ben Thanh Metro Station

On August 26, the Department of Planning and Architecture (QH-KT) of Ho Chi Minh City held an awarding ceremony for the “Urban Design and Underground Space Design Concepts of Ben Thanh Metro Station” contest. The organizers awarded 2 consolation prizes and 1-second prize to the participating team.
Accordingly, RSP Architects Planners & Engineers (Vietnam) Co. Ltd won second prize; Nippon Koei CO.,Ltd and SCE Project Vietnam Co (S&A Architecture)., Ltd won consolation prizes.

Director of the Department of Planning and Architecture of Ho Chi Minh City - Nguyen Thanh Nha said that Ho Chi Minh City is looking for suitable resources and investment options for underground space in the central area. In the near future, Ho Chi Minh City will implement urban design plans on the ground; when suitable capital is found, priority will be given to these ideas to be implemented in greater to develop underground space for the central area.

Mr. Ly Khanh Tam Thao, Head of Technical Infrastructure Department under the Department of Planning and Architecture of HCM, said that Ben Thanh Metro station is the central station of metro line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien), the underground space here plays an important role as the central hub where most Ho Chi Minh City metro lines converge.
