Renovation of a historic landmark hotel in Rome
The iconic Hotel Eden was originally constructed in 1887 as a series of elegant residential apartments. Later it was converted to a luxury hotel, and a full renovation and refurbishment of the hotel was completed in 2017. The project included the creation of a spa on the ground floor and a complete makeover of the panoramic restaurant on the top floor.
The vertical circulation was altered with the introduction of new and faster elevators, changes to escape routes and reinforcement of all floors. Careful coordination was required between MEP design and fire protection engineering over structural solutions that would have the least impact on the historic building, characterized by load-bearing walls and arched ceilings with rafters.
